With the Layout Editor’s modules, you can easily turn pages into a sleek landing page that helps users navigate your space. To add modules to a space overview, go into the Layout Editor – read more below. To add modules to other pages in your Confluence space, use the Content Layout macro.

Before customising a page overview for the first time, you need to activate Refined Toolkit.

Access the Layout Editor

  1. In the left-hand menu of your space, click Overview.

  2. Click the … (three dots) button > Edit space overview.

  3. You are now in the the Layout Editor where you can set up your Space Overview with the help of modules. Modules make your Confluence space dynamic and interactive:

Add modules

+ Add Module buttons are located in different locations in the Editor – click them to add modules where you see fit in your design. To speed up the page creation, you can duplicate modules. Go to the top-right corner of a module and click the Duplicate icon.

Add structure by using sections

Sections act as containers for modules and help you organise your page. Hover above or below an existing section, and add a new section by clicking the + button.

Divide a section into columns
Within a section, you can cluster modules into columns. Click the + Add Column button located in the top-right corner of the section. To change the width of a column, click and drag the column’s border.

Restore a previous version

You can always go back to a previously published version of the page.

  1. Click the Version button at the top of the Editor.

  2. Click Restore for the version you want to use. 

Export and import a layout

If you want to reuse a layout, you can export it and import it to another page.
Click the Import/export button at the top of the Editor.

Templates

Combine modules and macros on a page

To create a space overview with modules and macros:

  1. In the left-hand menu of your space, click Overview.

  2. Click the … (three dots) button > click the Space overview enabled button so it turns grey.
