Use space settings to customise customize the looks and functionalities of Confluence pages and blogposts within a Confluence space blog posts on your Refined sites.

Global space settings apply to all spaces on your site, except for the the spaces those with custom space settings. In other words: you can use Use global space settings to decide the default look of your spaces, and customise customize specific spaces with custom space settings. When you update global space settings, this does not update the settings of these changes don’t apply to spaces with custom space settings.

Edit a site’s global space settings

  1. Head to the Refined Administration.

  2. Click Sites in the left-hand menu.

  3. Pick Select the site you want to work with.

  4. Click on the Audience Features tab.

Embedded pages (beta)

Although the vast majority of Confluence pages are displayed on Refined sites without problem, you might want to add pages to your sites that include formatting or macros that Refined doesn’t (fully) support.

In that case, embed Confluence pages on private Refined sites so they look just as they do in native Confluence:

  • Disables the following the space settings:

    • Display authors (however, the embedded pages will still show author and last updated, because this is standard information on a native Confluence page)

    • Show estimated read time

    • Table of content

  • Moves some controls, which are normally located at the top of the page, to the bottom of the page: the … (three dots) button, the feedback button and the star which lets you to add the Confluence pages as favouritesfavorites.

  • May cause slightly slower performance on-page.

  • May cause certain page interactions not to work, such as opening links located within third-party macros.

Additionally, since Embedded Confluence Pages are shown in an iFrame, some macros will be displayed as an iFrame within an iFrame (e.g. Miro or Figma). In those cases, this may result in a suboptimal sub-optimal experience for users.

Display authors

Show authors at the top of Confluence pages and blogpostsblog posts. This setting is not available when you have enabled the Embedded Confluence pages setting.

When this setting is disabled, clicking the title of the left-hand side menu takes users to a customisable customizable landing page. When this setting is enabled, it takes you to the space home (space overview) instead. Regardless of this setting, the Confluence space home stays accessible on your site via search, modules, or Confluence Pages.

  1. Add the space to your Refined site. You can choose to hide it from the navigation menu, if you’d like.

  2. Disable the Confluence space home for this space.

  3. On any page in this space, click the title of the left-hand menu to see the space home. Copy the URL of this page.

  4. Add that URL to a module in the Page Builder (or the legacy Layout Editor).

Table of contents

Help A table of contents helps users navigate long pages by adding a table of contents, which . It lists all headings on a page and , moves with the user as they scroll down the page. It , shows which paragraph the user is reading, and can take them to another paragraph with a simple click. Users can hide or show the table of contents by clicking the icon on the right-hand side of the page.

This setting is not available when you have enabled the Embedded Confluence pages setting.

Likes

Show likes on your Refined site’s Confluence pages and blogpostsLet users like Confluence pages and blog posts on your site, and shows how many likes a page or post has.

Feedback

Gather feedback from users on Confluence pages and blog posts to improve your sites. All logged-in users who have Confluence Page View permissions can leave feedback on your site’s pages that are created from Confluence spaces, by clicking the Give Feedback button. It is possible They can choose to give the feedback tied to their account or anonymously.

If you previously enabled users provided feedback on your site and you disable the feedback feature and want to disable it, the above-mentioned users can still view previously-provided feedback.

On your Refined site, unresolved feedback is marked with a red number on the speech bubble. In Confluence, you can see the red number when you click on the Refined logo at the top of the page.

  1. Go to the site and log in.

  2. Click your avatar in the top-right corner > Feedback.
