Content and structure itemsMost sites consist of a mix of these content and structure items:
Item hierarchy: shape the navigation menuThe navigation menu is your Refined site’s main menu, located at the top of all pages. The navigation menu reflects the content and hierarchy you create in the site structure tab. An organized menu helps your users find the right content on your site. Simply drag and drop items to arrange them into a hierarchy. Group items underneath Refined Pages and Menu menu folders to create drop-down lists in the site navigation menu. |
For example, you can create four menu folders which will be the main navigation menu items on your intranet: Teams, Projects, Resources and HR. Everything you group underneath these folders in the site structure appears in drop-down lists in the menu.

No restrictions applied, all users see this item.
Logged-in users only

Only logged-in users see this item. You can even limit access to specific Atlassian user groups.
Anonymous users only
Restrictions applied: the item shows a lock icon.
Only users who aren’t logged in see this item.
An item's view permissions also apply to sub-items grouped under it, unless these sub-items have more restrictive permissions set. See examples in the image below (click to enlarge).
Interactions with other permissions
You can also set general site access permissions and granular permissions on specific content on landing pages of Refined pages, Confluence spaces, Jira projects, and JSM projects.
All types of permissions are closely related and may impact each other. For example, a user who doesn’t have access to a landing page still won’t be able to see a section that’s set to be Accessible to anyone.
