Metadata is information that describes a page, but is not actually visible on the page itself. By adding metadata to a page on your Refined site, you control what preview text and image show up when you post a link on another platform, for example on Twitter, Facebook or Slack. Modules on Refined sites such as the Pages module and the News module also use metadata to show a preview text or image of a page.

If a page has no metadata, the link’s preview text and image are taken from the on-page content.

On your Refined site, you can add metadata to these types of pages:

  • Confluence pages and blog posts

  • Confluence space homes

  • Jira project homes

  • Site homes

  • Documents

  • Refined pages
