The navigation menu is your Refined site’s main menu, located at the top of all pages.

There are two styles to choose from. The content menu shows the structure of your entire site, while the breadcrumb menu shows all the current page’s parent pages

  1. Go to the Refined Administration.

  2. Click Sites in the left-hand menu.

  3. Pick the site you want to work with.

  4. Go to the Configuration tab.

Reflects the content that you added to your site in the Site Builder, as well as its structure.

Single column:

  1. Go to the Site Builder.

  2. Add a Menu Folder as a parent item.

  3. Add child items to it.

Multiple columns:

  1. Add a Menu Folder as a parent item.

  2. Add multiple Menu Folders to it as child items.

  3. Add multiple child items to each of these Menu Folders.

In some cases, you want to add content to a site but not display it in the Navigation Menu. For example to use information from a specific Confluence space in a module, but not show it to all users.

To exclude a content item, go to the Site Builder and toggle off Show in the navigation menu in the content item’s settings. You see the settings menu when you add a new content item. To edit an existing content item, click the item’s Cogwheel > Edit.

The Site Switcher makes it easier for your users to navigate between your sites and to access other links.

You can enable and manage the Site Switcher on each of your sites.

  1. Go to the Refined Administration.

  2. Click Sites in the left-hand menu.

  3. Pick the site you want to work with.

  4. Go to the Site Switcher tab.

In this tab, you can:

  • Enable or disable the Site Switcher for the site.

  • Add or remove menu items, which can be sites from your Refined instance as well as external links.

  • Adjust the order in which links show up in the menu.

  • Determine whether items open up in a new tab when users click them.

Users search all the site’s content by clicking the magnifying glass at the top-right corner of your site. Click here to read which search results are included and what other ways users can search your sites.

The cogwheel is only visible to administrators of the Refined site. It contains shortcuts to the Refined Administration, helpful resources and the Atlassian Administration.

Users log in to your Refined site with their Atlassian account. While the Login button is part of the Navigation Menu by default, it can be beneficial to hide it on some of your sites. For example on public documentation sites on which the majority of users will only read information and has no reason to log in. That’s why we now offer the option to hide the button from a site:

  1. Go to the Refined Administration.

  2. Click Sites in the left-hand menu.

  3. Pick the site you want to work with.

  4. Go to the Configuration tab.

  5. Scroll down to the Navigation Menu heading.

  6. Toggle Display login button off.

To only give a small audience the option to log in, hide the login button and add the login URL to a module on a specific landing page on your site.

If you were using custom CSS to hide the login button before we released this feature, we recommend you to remove it and use the feature instead. We don’t offer support for issues that occur due to custom code.

The avatar menu is a personalised menu that is only available to logged-in users.

Support and Issues
If you have installed Refined for Jira Cloud, users with the right permissions can see relevant requests and issues.

Pages
Users can save Confluence pages on your site for future reference, by clicking the Star icon in the top-right corner of a page. By clicking My favourite pages in the avatar menu, users see an overview of all pages they saved.

Cookie settings
Users can update their cookie preferences at all times.

Profile
On the Profile page on your Refined site, users can see their Atlassian account information. Clicking the Manage your account button takes them to Atlassian’s site, where they can manage their account information and settings.

Log out
Note that after logging out from the site, users are not automatically logged out of Atlassian. If you want to emphasise to users that they also need to log out of Atlassian, enable the Atlassian logout prompt.
