Content and structure items

Most sites consist of a mix of these items that let you shape your site’s content and structure:

  • A Refined Page is a customizable landing page. Although it is not connected to any specific Confluence or Jira content itself, you can use it to show content from the spaces and projects that you group underneath it in the Site Builder. Any item that you nest below a Refined Page appears in a drop-down list in your site’s navigation menu.

  • Menu Folders also let you create drop-down lists in the navigation menu. As opposed to a Refined Page, a Menu Folder doesn’t have a landing page.

  • When you add a Confluence space, you create a customizable landing page for the space. Through this page, users can access the Confluence space’s pages and blogs.

  • When you add a JSM project, you create a customizable landing page for the project. Users can create and view requests on this page.

  • When you add a Jira Software project, you create a customizable landing page for the project. Users can create and view issues on this page.

  • Links let you direct users to any page you want, on or off your site, straight from your site’s navigation menu.

Create an item hierarchy

An organized Navigation Menu helps your visitors find the right content on your site. Simply drag and drop items to arrange them into a hierarchy. Group items underneath Refined Pages and Menu folders to create drop-down lists in the site navigation menu. The key to a successful hierarchy is to think about the relationships between spaces/projects and how they'll be used.

For example, you can create four menu folders which will be the main navigation menu items on your intranet: Teams, Projects, Resources and HR. Everything you group underneath these folders in the Site Builder appears in drop-down lists in the menu.

Add an item

Choose where to add the new item in your site’s hierarchy. You can always move it to a different location later by dragging and dropping it.

  1. To add an item to the bottom of the Site Builder, click the + Add Content button. To add an item to a specific location in the Site Builder, hover your cursor between items. This will make a plus and an arrow appear.

    • Click the plus to add the item on the same hierarchy level.

    • Click the arrow to group the item underneath another item in the hierarchy.

  2. Select the item you want to add. You can add multiple spaces or projects at once.

You can add Confluence spaces, Jira Software projects, and JSM projects to as many sites as you want.

Edit an item’s settings

Click the item’s … (Three dots) > Settings.

Edit an item’s customizable page

  1. Click the item’s … (Three dots) > Edit Page.

  2. The page opens in the Page Builder.

Delete an item

  1. Click the item’s Cogwheel > Delete.

  2. In the popup that appears, click the Delete button to confirm your action.

When you delete a Refined Page, Confluence space, Jira Software project or JSM project from your site, you lose the changes you made to its customizable page. If you want to use the layout of that page again in the future, we recommend exporting it in the Page Builder before deleting the item in the Site Builder. This way, you can import it to another customizable page later.
