A page’s featured image and text can show up different places on and off your site:

  • The Pages module shows a Confluence page’s featured image.

  • The News module shows a Confluence blog’s featured image.

  • When you share a link to a publicly available page, a link preview shows the featured image and text. This works on social media and Slack, for example.

  • When Google shows the page as a search result, users see the featured text.

When the preview image and description aren’t set up, the preview is based on the page’s content.

Add a preview image and text to a page

Click the … Three dots button > Add metadata.

Image guidelines

To optimize the preview images for the pages and news modules, follow these guidelines. While it is possible to upload an image in a different ratio, keep in mind that the module will crop it to fit the format.
