Data storage and data residency
Refined Toolkit stores a limited amount of data outside of Atlassian Cloud. Please note that the information on this page is subject to change.
Data that Refined stores
Layouts, hosted by Heroku in the US.
Themes, hosted by Heroku in the US.
Images in layouts and themes, stored in Refined’s S3 region-specific bucket in Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Data that Refined doesn’t store
Images in macros.
Personally identifiable information (except for IP addresses that we store in our logs for two weeks).
Login credentials. We never store login credentials of users, and authentication happens through Atlassian.
Atlassian Content. Atlassian content is never cached and it is fetched on demand for the user requesting the data.
Data access
Access to Refined Toolkit's cloud infrastructure is restricted to Refined employees who require access to develop, maintain and troubleshoot issues within the product.
Data residency
We offer flexible data hosting for enhanced privacy and speed. You can freely set the data residency location of your app data in the EU (Germany) or USA.
Migrate your data by following these steps:
Go to the Atlassian Administration in Confluence.
From the navigation menu, click Security.
On the list to the left, you will find Data residency.Â
You’ll be taken to the Data residency page. Towards the bottom of that page, locate Confluence within the Product list. Under the Actions column of that list, click View details for Confluence.Â
You’ll be taken to a page called App details. On the top right, click Set location.
A step-by-step guide will then help you choose a target location that your data will be migrated to. You will also have three options to choose from when deciding when the migration will take place.
After your Confluence data is migrated, repeat steps 1 through 4 above. After that, you will see a row for Refined Toolkit. Under Action you can set the location for data residency for your Refined Toolkit app.Â
Exit the service agreement
Move all content out of every Refined Toolkit macro.
Go to Settings > Apps > Manage apps.
Select Refined, then select Unsubscribe and Uninstall.
Refined will delete the customer's data after 30 days from the uninstallation.
