Users can search the contents of your site through the global search, Search Highlight module, sidebar search, and when creating a request. Depending on where the user searches, results can include:

  • Articles from knowledge base spaces (shown via the Jira Service Desk Knowledge Base setup)

  • Pages from Confluence spaces (shown via Refined for Confluence Cloud when a Confluence space has been added to a Refined site).

  • Jira Issues

  • Request types

  • Navigation links (from the site's top menu)

  • Promoted search results

Search Highlight module

The Search Highlight module is located in page content and gives search results from any child content or item. If the module is placed on a Refined Page that is connected to a Jira project or Confluence space, it also gives results from these projects or spaces.

On Refined Pages that have no Atlassian content associated with them, this module shows search results from your entire site.

Global search

Users access the global search by clicking the magnifying glass at the top-right corner of your site. The search results cover content from your entire site.

Sidebar search

The sidebar search is located in the left-hand menu of a page that is created from a Confluence space. It only gives results from within this Confluence space. You can enable or disable this search function for each space.

Creating a request

When users create a request, the summary field shows suggested knowledge base articles based on what the user types in the summary field. This can help users find an answer to their question before even filing a ticket.

This feature is only available if you have Refined for Jira Cloud.
