This functionality was previously called Recommended Links.

Use Promoted Search Results to improve your users' search experience. It lets you decide what pages are suggested to users when they search for specific key terms. This reduces the amount of time they have to spend looking through documentation.

Promoted Search Results can be used globally or contextually.

  • Globally - for an entire Refined site (in the global search bar at the top of all pages, and in the Search Highlight module.)

  • Contextually - for specific parts of a Refined site. For example, you can add Promoted Search Results to a JSM project.

Make it easy for your users to find what they are looking for with recommended links.
  1. Head to the Refined Administration.

  2. Click Sites in the left-hand menu.

  3. Pick the site you want to work with.

  4. Click on the Audience Features tab.

  5. Choose the page to which you’d like to add a Promoted Search Result.

  6. Click the + Create New button.

  7. Set up the link.

Parameter

Description

Link URL

This can be any internal or external URL.

Link name

The link’s name that the user who is searching will see.

Choose icon

Add an icon to the promoted search result.

Match word

The link is suggested when a user searches for any of these key terms.
To add multiple match words, separate them with a comma.

Decide whether the link should open in the same window or a new one.

Pin link in Search Result

Pin a link in the search field, which is displayed when a search doesn’t
return any results, regardless of the match words.

See statistics

In the Audience Features tab, you can also see an overview of promoted links on your site. We keep track of how often each link is clicked and when it was clicked last. This helps you identify what your users are looking for, so you can delete the links that no longer serve their purpose.

To see the statistics, hover your mouse on the number of clicks.

JSM agents, project admins, admins, and other users can no longer create or edit links via Jira. This can now only be done via the Refined Administration. If they don’t have access, add them as a Refined Administrator.
