Install the app

Download Refined Toolkit for Confluence from the Atlassian Marketplace.

Use macros

After installing the app, you can start using macros right away.

Activate Refined Toolkit

To apply themes and customise a space overview, you need to first activate Refined Toolkit for that space.

  1. Navigate to a space.

  2. Go to Space settings in the left-hand menu.

  3. Click Theming.

  4. Activate theming for this space.

  5. Choose a theme.

  6. Navigate back to the space overview.

Here you can activate Refined Toolkit, toggle the theming on your space overview on and off, and change the space’s theme. When you activate theming on a space, you apply a theme to all pages within this space. You can also decide if you want to theme your space overview or keep it as it is.

Theming

Theme Confluence spaces to customise the look of all pages within the space. Choose a ready-made theme or create your own.

  1. In the left-hand menu of your space, click Overview.

  2. Click the … (three dots) button > Change theme to switch to a different theme, or Edit to make changes to the current theme.

Space Overview Editor

With the Space Overview Editor, turn space overviews into dynamic, interactive landing pages that help users navigate your space. Create your own design from scratch or tweak one of the five pre-configured templates to your liking.

  1. Click Overview in the left-hand menu of your space.

  2. Click the … (three dots) button > Edit space overview to go to the Space Overview Editor.

  3. Use modules to set up the space overview.

Content Layout macro

Use the Content Layout Macro to make your Confluence spaces and pages visually appealing and easy to navigate. For example, you can use modules to create navigation pathways or show recent activity in your space.

  1. Edit a page.

  2. Type /Content Layout, or click the + button in the top menu and search for Content Layout.

  3. Include the macro and save the page.

  4. Click the Start editing your Content Layout button. The Content Layout Editor works the same way as the Space Overview Editor.

UI macros

Add UI macros to your pages to streamline navigation, offer interactive content, and make information easier to digest.

  1. Edit a page.

  2. In the Confluence editor’s top menu, click + > View more or Other macros.

  3. Find and select one of Refined’s UI macros.

Inspiration

Check out these demos of what you can do with Refined Toolkit:

Turn Confluence into custom intranets, documentation sites, project hubs, partner portals and more

With Refined for Confluence Cloud, you can build fully customizable sites on your own domain.

Sites look and feel like websites, so there's no learning curve for visitors. You choose what's on display and where, so users can always find what they need. And themed in your brand aesthetic, sites are fit to welcome internal and external visitors alike—your choice—without any doubt they belong to you.

Build an intranet for employees, a documentation site for customers, and a portal for your partner network—all from the same instance. There’s no limit to the number of sites you can build, or who and what you can build them for.
