Get started with Refined for Jira:

Install Refined for Jira Service Management

To install Refined for Jira Service Management (JSM):

1. Log into your JSM instance as an admin.

2. Click the admin drop-down and choose Atlassian Marketplace.
   The Manage add-ons screen loads.

3. Click Find new apps or Find new add-ons from the left-hand side of the page.

4. Locate Refined for Jira Service Management | Sites & Themes via search.
   The appropriate app version appears in the search results.

5. Click Try free to begin a new trial or Buy now to purchase a license for Refined for Jira Service Management | Sites & Themes.
   You're prompted to log into MyAtlassian.
   Refined for Jira Service Management | Sites & Themes begins to download.

6. Enter your information and click Generate license when redirected to MyAtlassian.

7. Click Apply license.
   If you're using an older version of UPM, you can copy and paste the license into your Jira Service Management instance.

Once you have installed Refined for Jira Service Management, Refined appears as an item in the left-hand menu.

Access Refined Administration

The Refined Administration is where you manage all your Refined sites. There are two ways to access the Refined Administration:

• Go to General Configuration. In the left-hand menu, look for Refined and click Configuration.

• In the Navigation bar (the top menu), click the Refined dropdown > Administration > Refined.

Jira Service Management enabled

When Jira Service Management is enabled in your Jira, all JSM projects are automatically added to the Global JSM Site. This is the equivalent of the Help Center in Jira, and cannot be disabled. 

You can decide whether all the JSM projects are shown within Refined sites, or if you want to keep some of it in default JSM. This is done by enabling or disabling Refined Globally: read more.

Go to the Refined Administration > Jira Service Management tab. Toggle Enable Refined globally on or off.

Create and apply themes

A theme determines the look of your site. In the Refined Administration’s Themes tab, choose a pre-set theme, or apply your corporate branding by building your own custom theme.

Get the right content on your site

Go to the Refined Administration > Site Builder tab. Click on View Site next to a site’s title to visit that site and edit the page by clicking the Pen icon in the top-right corner.
