A new, intuitive Page Builder has replaced the Layout Editor to customize space overviews. That means live designing — no preview necessary — and more ways to help your users get around and find what they need in Confluence. We can’t wait for you to try it.
Watch out for changes to space overviews
The Page Builder release may have triggered some changes to the look of your space overviews. We recommend reviewing your layouts to ensure you’re delivering the intended look and feel to your users.
Theme backgrounds don’t appear on space overview pages. The background that you set in the space theme used to be visible on all pages in the space, including its space overview. Since the release of the Page Builder, this background doesn’t show on the space overview. You now update backgrounds directly in the Page Builder, giving you more freedom and design options.
Cards modules may render differently. These changes are minor.
Icons may render differently.
Reverting back to the old Layout Editor
If the changes are too disruptive to your end users and it’s not an option to update your layouts at the moment, you can revert back to the old Layout Editor. Please note though that:
Access to that editor is temporary: all layouts will have to be moved to the Page Builder eventually.
Changes made to layouts in the Page Builder will be lost when reverting to the old editor.
Navigate to a space.
Go to Space settings in the left-hand menu.
In the Theming section, click Configure Refined Toolkit.
Toggle Page Builder off.
Upcoming release of Page Builder macro
We’ll soon introduce a Page Builder macro to replace the Layout Editor macro, and it may have a similar impact on icons and the Cards module.

We offer flexible data hosting for enhanced privacy and speed. You can freely set the data residency location of your app data in the EU (Germany) or USA.
Migrate your data by following these steps:
Go to the Atlassian Administration in Confluence.
From the navigation menu, click Security.
On the list to the left, you will find Data residency.
You’ll be taken to the Data residency page. Towards the bottom of that page, locate Confluence within the Product list. Under the Actions column of that list, click View details for Confluence.
You’ll be taken to a page called App details. On the top right, click Set location.
A step-by-step guide will then help you choose a target location that your data will be migrated to. You will also have three options to choose from when deciding when the migration will take place.
After your Confluence data is migrated, repeat steps 1 through 4 above. After that, you will see a row for Refined Toolkit. Under Action you can set the location for data residency for your Refined Toolkit app.
