Each site and each (sub)category has its own home page. Think of them as landing pages with a layout that you can customise to help users navigate the site or category. You edit the content and structure of site homes and category homes in the Layout Editor.

Global site home

Usually the starting page of the instance, on which you can show content from all sources.

Site homes

Each site that you create has a home, which is the layout (landing page) for that site.

Category homes

Each category can have its own home.

Subcategory homes

Each subcategory can have its own home within the category.

Global site home

Users who are allowed to use Confluence according to Global Permissions.

Confluence administrators.

Site homes

Users who are allowed to see the site. This includes administrators.

Refined administrators, Confluence administrators, and site administrators.

(Sub)category homes

Users who are allowed to view the category.

Refined administrators, Confluence administrators, and category administrators.

Access the Layout Editor

To edit a site or category home, go to the home and click the … Three dots in the top right corner > Edit site/category home. You are now in the Layout Editor.
