Administrator permissions

Users with administrative rights can edit settings in the Refined Administration. There are three types of Administrators:

  • A user who is a Confluence Administrator can edit all Refined settings.

  • A user who is manually added as Refined Administrator can edit all Refined settings.

  • A user who is manually added as Site Administrator can edit site-specific settings.

It can be beneficial to delegate administrator permissions to colleagues, for example when you work with teams who all have different specialisations:

  • A support team member can be added as a Site Administrator to take care of your support site

  • A development team member can be added as a Site Administrator to add helpful content on your intranet.

  • A designer can be added as Refined Administrator to help out with the look and feel of several sites.

Confluence Administrators and Refined Administrators

By default, all your organisation’s Confluence Administrators have administrator rights in Refined. Since version 7.0 you can also assign Refined Administrator roles to any other Confluence user in your organisation, giving them the same administrator rights. This way, all your colleagues can contribute to your Refined sites.

Confluence Administrators and Refined Administrators can edit all Refined settings, including:

  • Configuring Refined.

  • Creating and managing Refined Sites.

  • Creating and managing Themes.

  • Adding other users as Refined or Site Administrators.

  • Editing all layouts.

Add or remove Refined Administrators

Refined Administrators and Confluence Administrators can give others in their organisation Refined Administrator rights. Go to Refined Administration > Permissions > add a user or user group.

Site Administrators

A Site Administrator can edit settings related to a Refined Site, which includes:

  • Editing layouts.

  • Adding and editing spaces for which the user has Confluence view permissions. It’s only possible to add Confluence spaces that are not added to a different site.

  • Editing any setting for the site including theme, navigation, permission, start site settings, announcement banners, promoted search results, and more.
