Fix for Refined 6.1.17
This release addresses a bug introduced in 6.1.17 that would cause the app to crash if there's NULL values in the database table for LAYOUT_VERSION.
Performance optimization
This version includes changes in how visible categories are fetched and cached for a user. This change aims to reduce the time spent in a blocking database transactions. Another change is the way the category cache gets invalidated when a user group relationship changes. This should reduce the frequency of how often the category cache is built for users and improve the end user experience. These changes are done in the backend category caching system which is always enabled.
If you have a large server or data center instance we recommend to use the Refined front-end caching to reduce the amount of REST requests towards your Confluence instance. Learn more about caching in Refined.

Note that this feature is only used if no advanced or pre-defined filter is configured on the module, in which case the configured one is used.

XSS vulnerability resolved
A XSS vulnerability has been identified and fixed. The vulnerability occurs on Refined version 6.1.2 - 6.1.8. If you're on those versions you're recommended to upgrade to the latest 6.1 release.
Risk Assessment
The cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability affected blog post content shown on dashboards using the news module. If the attacker is allowed to create/edit blog posts that are then added to the dashboard news module rotation, a potential script could be triggered. XSS vulnerabilities potentially allow an attacker to embed their own JavaScript into a Confluence blog post. You can read more about XSS attacks here: Cross-site scripting (XSS) - MDN Web Docs Glossary: Definitions of Web-related terms | MDN
