Get started with Refined for Confluence Server & Data Center:

Install Refined

To install Refined:

1. Log into your Confluence instance as an admin.

2. Click the admin dropdown and choose Atlassian Marketplace.
   The Manage add-ons screen loads.

3. Click Find new apps or Find new add-ons from the left-hand side of the page.

4. Locate Refined for Confluence | Sites & Themes via search.
   The appropriate app version appears in the search results.

5. Click Try free to begin a new trial or Buy now to purchase a license for Refined for Confluence | Sites & Themes.
   You're prompted to log into MyAtlassian.
   Refined for Confluence | Sites & Themes begins to download.

6. Enter your information and click Generate license when redirected to MyAtlassian.

7. Click Apply license.
   If you're using an older version of UPM, you can copy and paste the license into your Confluence instance.

Activate Refined as the global theme

Activating Refined as the Global theme changes the look and feel of your Confluence instance. It’s also possible to keep the native Confluence look and feel and only apply Refined to specific spaces.

1. Go to General Configuration.

2. In the left-hand menu, look for Refined and click Configuration.

3. Click Activate Refined as the Global Theme.

Access Refined Administration

The Refined Administration is where you manage all your Refined sites. There are two ways to access the Refined Administration:

• Go to General Configuration. In the left-hand menu, look for Refined and click Configuration.

• In the Confluence navigation (the top menu), click the Cogwheel > Refined Administration.

When going to the Refined Administration, you’ll land in the Configuration tab. The settings you make here apply globally: to all sites and categories in your Confluence).

Create a site

1. Go to the Refined Administration.

2. Go to the Site Builder tab.

3. Click the Add site button.

Create and apply themes

A theme determines the look of your site. In the Refined Administration’s Themes tab, choose a pre-set theme, or apply your corporate branding by building your own custom theme.

Add content to the global site home

The global site home is the start site and first point of entry for Confluence users (unless you specify otherwise).

Customise spaces and space layouts

A Space Layout determines the look and feel of the pages within a space. By setting up different Space Layouts, you can adapt spaces to different users.

Additionally, make sure to add your spaces to categories.

Customise your site's footer

Add links, news, a logo, HTML modules and more to your footer.
