In addition to adding Jira projects, you can structure your sites using categories. By adding categories, you create landing pages that help your users navigate your site, and you structure the top menu navigation.

Categories are added to a specific site, and can be dragged-and-dropped between sites.

Category homes

Each category in your category menu has a category home: a landing page for this category. You edit the content of these pages in the Layout Editor.

Site navigation menu

The categories show up in site navigation menu, which is located at the top of your site. You can choose between two menu styles

Adding a category

Open the Site Builder and click the click the + in the top right corner of a site block.

Setting

Description

Name and url

Set the category’s (visible in the top navigation of the site) and URL path (at the ending of the URL for that category).

Permissions

Choose one of the following view permissions:

  • Inherit - apply the same permissions as for the parent site or the parent category.

  • Anonymous users - make the site visible to anonymous users.

  • Logged in users.

  • Groups - manually set the Jira User Groups that can see see this category.

Set the category’s theme.
