This feature is available in Refined for Jira Data Center version 3.0 and up.
Add a language switcher to the category menu to let users read your content in their preferred language. Your site’s language automatically matches the language in the user’s profile. Clicking a language in the switcher reloads the page and sets the new preferred language for that user.
You can add a language switcher to sites, categories or portals.
What is translated?

Add a language switcher
The language switcher automatically appears when you add one or more languages in Refined Administration > the Languages tab. Click the + Add language button and select a language from the list. You can manually add languages that are not in this list by entering a language ISO code.

Custom translations, wordings and phrases
This feature is available in version 3.2 and up.
Take the language switcher to the next level by adding your own translations, wordings and phrases.
The custom translations build on the custom text variables. When adding a custom variable, you can see multiple fields: one for the default value, and one per language you’ve enabled in Refined.
In this example, we translate a category called Help & info. After completing these steps, the category name will automatically be translated anywhere it appears on your site.
Go to the Refined Administration > Languages > Expand Dictionary.
Click Add text variable and add the text variable’s name and translations.
Save your entries and go to the Site Builder tab.
Click the Cogwheel of the category you wish to translate.
Enter your new text variable as the category’s name.
In this example, we create an announcement banner that notifies users of planned maintenance.
Go to the Refined Administration > Languages > Expand Dictionary.
Click Add text variable and add the text variable’s name and translations.
Save your entries and go to the Announcements tab. We will build the message in two parts: the message in the text variable and the data in a general format.
In this example, we add a text to the top of the Search Highlight to inspire visitors to search for help. The entered text will be a combination of text and a text variable.
Go to the Refined Administration > Languages > Expand Dictionary.
Click Add text variable and add the text variable’s name and translations. In this screenshot you can see we added
$sitename, which means the variable will contain the words types, and then the dynamically fetched name of the site.
Save your entries, go to a page on your website and add a Search Highlight module.
Add your new text variable into the module’s primary text.
