Refined Cloud Apps Explained
Cloud is very hot right now with the recent announcement from Atlassian of the end of Server sales. The good news is Refined has sister Cloud apps to our popular Server apps and we are Data Center ready and firing.
If your customers are considering a move to Cloud or Data Center, visit our migration site for information, pathways and feature comparisons across hostings.
Three Refined Cloud Apps
Refined has three Cloud apps available:
Refined for Confluence Cloud Explained
Refined for Confluence Cloud is the sister app to our long standing app Refined for Confluence Server/DC. The app functions mostly in the same way as our server app, so that you can transform Confluence into a more engaging, easier to navigate site. Common use cases for Server and Cloud include knowledge management, intranets and documentation.
Refined for Confluence Cloud and Server Differences
The main difference between Refined for Confluence Cloud and Server is that we run your customized beautiful looking Confluence site on a parallel site to Confluence (hosted by Refined) whereas on Server your customized beautiful looking Confluence site sits on top of Confluence. This means the admin section on Cloud will be setup in Refined’s own admin program, unlike on Server where it lives inside the Confluence admin section. You can read about the differences here on the PRC and on our migration site.

Refined for Jira Cloud Explained
Refined for Jira Cloud is the sister app to Refined for Jira (Service Desk) on Server/DC. Once again the app functions in pretty much the same way as our server app, so that you can customize Service Desk portals, Jira projects and display selected Jira data on the beautiful looking customer facing parts of Jira. The most common use case we see for this is ITSM, occasionally public issue trackers, and project management sites.
Refined for Jira Cloud and Server Differences
The main difference between Refined for Jira Cloud and Server is that we run your customized beautiful looking Jira site on a parallel site to Jira (hosted by Refined) whereas on Server your customized beautiful looking Jira site sits on top of the Jira Customer Portals. This means the admin section on Cloud will be setup in Refined’s own admin program, unlike on Server where it lives inside the Confluence admin section. You can read about the differences here on the PRC and on our migration site.

Refined Toolkit for Confluence Cloud Explained
Refined Toolkit for Confluence Cloud, used to be named Refined Spaces for Confluence Cloud. This app differs from Refined for Confluence Cloud in that it provides customization including theming and layout on a space level only. This app doesn’t include the capability to re-organize Confluence spaces into groups in a top navigation menu. However if all you’re after is to improve the look and feel of Confluence Cloud then this could be the one for you.
Refined Toolkit for Confluence Cloud and Server Differences
The main difference between Refined Toolkit on Cloud is that you can theme a space and customize pages using macros on Cloud, whereas on Server the theming option on a space level isn’t available (unless you use it with Refined for Confluence Server). The Server app is free, however Data Center and Cloud apps come at a cost.
